Hand hygiene is one of the most important ways to prevent the spread of potentially harmful germs which could lead to an infection:

Why? – You can take actions by practicing hand hygiene regularly and by asking those around you to practice it as well.

When? – You and your loved ones should clean your hands regularly. Especially:

  • before and after entering a public space, such as a shop or GP surgery
  • after going to the toilet
  • before preparing food or eating
  • after blowing your nose or sneezing

How? – Take at least 20 seconds to wash your hands thoroughly using either soap or water or an alcohol based hand rub.
